“Our cubs had a great day.  The most talked about Activities while driving back were the obstacle course and the bridge.  I suppose these are things that don't happen on a Pack Night and are therefore more appealing as a new challenge.”

   Quote from Tarbat Cubs (Portmahomack).

60 cubs met in Evanton coming from all parts of Easter Ross and Sutherland - from Lairg to Muir of Ord.

There were activities inside the sports centre and also outside , but the weather was good, and even standing in a queue was enjoyable.

The history of cubs was highlighted by using the traditional “Grand Howl” using the phrases “DYB, DYB, DYB” and “DOB,DOB,DOB”   standing for Do Your Best and Do Our Best.

The Cubs and leaders each lit a candle, ninety in all and had a piece of cake which had been decorated with a replica of the certificate they were given to take home.

If any Leader or Parents took photos during the day please submit to Owen Smith or Brian Cornaby to be seen on this page.

Thank you to all the Leaders and Parents who came along to help with Bases and guide their youngsters along to enjoy a great day out.

Special thanks to Brenda McGregor as Secretary of the Area Executive for all her emailing, chasing and cajoaling things along to make sure they happened: and above all an inordinate amount of patience !  Not quite elevated to "St. Brenda" but well on the way !!

1916        90th ANNIVERSARY OF  CUB SCOUTING         2006

A BIG Thank you to all our Leaders in the Area helping our youngsters to celebrate this Anniversary  - a very special year for Cub Scouting.  Most of them were provided with the Anniversary Uniform Badge which will be a reminder that they were part of United Kingdom year full of Activities.

Years later they may find their badge hidden in a drawer or scrap book and remember where they were on that particiular day in 2006.  Your Editor was doing just that when our sons were in Cub Scouts in 1976

Ross and Sutherland Cub Scouting  2006

Cub Football Tournament at Dingwall Sport Centre late February 2006   with good support from various Cub Packs.

Great start celebrating the 90 years of Cub Scouting 1916 to 2006

Did your Cubs Scouts wear the special uniform badge to be part of this special year.  Did they know why this year was so special, and were their parents aware of how the Wolf Cubs Programme has evolved over these last 90 years.  Perhaps a grandfather was a Wolf Cub or Cub Scout after 1967
