DINGWALL SCOUTS

dingwall scouts 1a

8 Dingwall Scouts and 1 Thurso Scout succeeded in their sponsored walk challenge to the top of Cairngorm. We had a beautiful but windy day and a bit of cloud on top so we could not see very much of the view unfortunately, but of course it cleared as soon as we started to make our descent.

One lucky Dingwall Scout now has the proud honour of being invested into Scouting on top of Cairngorm.

Our whole ascent and descent took 5 and a half hours in total. 3 hours up, including a half hour stop at Ptarmigan restaurant for out picnic lunch and toilets. 2.5 hours down with only a very minor ankle sprain on the way down which slowed us only slightly (and made a miraculous recovery when w got back to Badaguish Lodges and games were played outside).

All in all a very successful weekend thanks to Muirton Sea Scout Leader Andrew Tognarelli. Some of his Sea Scouts were in the next Lodge with Charleston Academy so more inter-District friends were made all round.
